Mrs. Hendrickson

Welcome. I am looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year.  The Title 1 program at Renville County West works to fill the gaps in students reading or math skills. We also work in conjunction with the National Reading Well by Third Grade initiative.  Title 1 has a full time teacher and two paraprofessionals that use benchmark testing data to find the reading or math needs of students. Through interventions and evidence based programs grades K-3 classrooms recieve supplementation with skill building in small groups.

Title 1 also works closely with the Reading Corps program and the Reading Corps tutors work in the Title 1 room, meeting one on one with students to meet their individual reading goals.

A little bit about me. I like to travel, spend time with family and friends, sew, camp, flower garden and downhill ski. I grew up in Willmar and worked there professionally for 20 years before starting my career in Education. I have two children that are the light of my life.

  • Welcome. What is Title 1? Title 1 is a federal program that provides funding to local school districts to improve the academic achievement of  students. It is part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act first passed in 1965. That Act is reauthorized by Congress from time to time, and often given a new name. It is currently known as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Renville County West is committed to the goal of providing quality education for every child in the district. We want to establish partnerships with parents and  the community. Everyone gains if school and home work together to promote high achievement by our students. Parents play an extremely important role as children's first teachers. Their support for students and for the school is critical to the student's success at every step along the way.

Title One is an opportunity for students to gain more skills in reading and math through research based interventions.  Parents, classroom teachers, and universal screening data guide the grade level, small groups that are formed to meet the individual needs of students and to guide them to success in reading and math.

Title 1 at RCW has one full time teacher and two paraprofessionals that meet with students every day.  The Title 1 room also houses Reading Corps tutors; volunteers who help students become fluent readers by the 3rd grade. Children enjoy meeting in small groups and learning in a variety of settings throughout their day.
