As the school social worker at Renville County West Schools, I work collaboratively with parents, school staff, teachers, administrators, and community providers in an effort to help students overcome barriers to achievement. My goal is for your child to feel supported and be successful in their education. 

Some important parts of my job include: providing social skills training, counseling, problem-solving, crisis prevention and intervention with students and small groups; making referrals to services, including our school-based providers (Woodland Centers), identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect; helping provide hygiene supplies, winter gear, and school supplies to students who need them. 

As part of the Teacher Assistance Team, if your child is struggling in school, I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher or TAT to help guide your child to achieve success.  

I enjoy helping students with college and career readiness activities, including field trips. RCW is a partnering school in the Yellow Medicine Integration Collaborative (YMIC) and attends college and career events planned by the YMIC coordinator. In addition, I help students that seek my assistance find scholarships to further their education after they graduate from RCW. I encourage students to be involved in their communities through school extra-curricular activities, school events, volunteer work in the school and community, and employment experiences and can help provide resources at the student or parents' request. 

I am the adviser of Teens Against Destructive Actions (TADA). The group has monthly meetings during advisory time to promote TADA's mission and to plan monthly volunteer opportunities for TADA members. TADA's mission is to address all challenges, including those associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, that young people encounter in their daily lives and do positive service within the school and community.
